How to open a file in the search results?
There are four ways to open a file in the search results: (1) Double-click the title link; (2) Click the left file icon; (3) Right-click the search result, then click "Open" in the context menu; (4) Click the search result, then click the top-left button in the right preview panel.
What is the difference between zone mode and easy mode?
Zone mode is used for searching fixed common folders and is suitable for long-term usage. In this mode, the documents in the zones will be scanned in advance, so the search will be quick, and all the search results will be complete.
Easy mode is used for out-of-zone folders or frequently-changed search scope. This is the temporary usage mode. In this mode, the documents are not scanned until you click the search button, so the search is slower; and it will show the search results as soon as a new result is found. The searching will proceed until you click the stop button or all the documents in the target folder have been scanned.
How to search multiple folders at the same time in Easy mode?
Double-click the text box (right of the Folder button), and enter the paths of multiple folders, separated by semicolons (for example, C:\ ; D:\ ; E:\ ).
How to modify the search scope in zone mode?
Step1: Click the “Zone editor” or click the top-left menu "TextSeek" then select "Search zone".
Step2: Click "Edit" to modify the old zone or click "Add" to add a new zone.
Step3: In the zone editing window, select all the directories and the file types to be searched, then "Save" the zone.
Step4: Click "Save" and the software will scan all zones, which may take a long time.
What to do if TextSeek shows no search results?
Check whether the search terms are spelled correctly, and make sure that the directories to be searched are included in the zones. Click the "Search zone" icon to see the details of zones.
How to change the width or height of the software main window?
Move the mouse to the bottom-right corner of the window, the icon of the mouse becomes a double arrow, and then you can hold down and drag the window to the desired size.
Why are the search results of Zone mode and Easy mode different?
First, the file type settings of the two modes may be different; in addition, for the simple mode, the default is not to limit the index size of a single file ("No index limit for easy mode" in the advanced settings), while the size is limited for the zone mode, which may cause different search results.
Installation
Can one license be applied to two computers?
After payment of your order, you will receive a registration key to activate the software. A personal license can be used on up to two machines, while a business license can be only applied for one machine. If you have more machines, you need to buy more licenses. Each license is valid for a limited time, and the software will regress into the demo version when the registration is expired.
Are upgrades from older versions free?
Minor upgrades (like 1.0->1.1) are free, and there is a discount for major upgrades (like 1.0->2.0). Please send us your name and email address to receive the discount code.
Did you lose your registration key?
Please send us your name and email information, then we will resend the key promptly.
What is the difference between a personal license and a business license?
The personal license can only be used for non-business purposes, such as education usage and private home usage. It cannot be used for business purposes. For company machines, only a business license is legal to use.
How to register?
After paying the registration fee, you will get a serial number about 24 characters long. Open the TextSeek software, click the key icon in the upper right corner, enter the email(ie account number), name and serial number in sequence, and the registration will be completed when the online verification is passed.

What is the system requirement?
TextSeek requires a 1 GHz or faster processor, 150 MB RAM, and 300 MB hard disk space.
Will TextSeek upload local documents?
We focus on the protection of your privacy. TextSeek does not collect or publish your local information. No local documents will be uploaded.
Why does TextSeek show "Unable to connect Internet" when I search?
TextSeek requires network verification. If you encounter problems, please disable the firewall and enable TextSeek to access the Internet.
Is there an offline version of TextSeek?
In order to meet the needs of some users who cannot access the Internet, TextSeek provides an offline version of MacOS, which is only allowed to be used by permanent commercial authorized users, and does not support a 30-day trial period. Click the link for details.
The offline version can be used by clicking the key icon in the upper right corner to register. After submitting the registration information, the software will display a QR code, and you can scan the code with your mobile phone to obtain the verification code online, and then fill in the verification code in the software to complete the registration. Our company is working hard to develop other offline versions of TextSeek, so stay tuned.
If I cannot select the folder I want, what should I do?
Due to the limitation of the QT framework, some folders cannot be selected through the UI (such as network folders). You can directly enter the path of the folder: in Easy mode, you can type in the folder text box (double-click the text box first in Windows); in Zone mode, click "edit directly" in the zone editor to modify the paths of zone, one line per path.
How to uninstall TextSeek?
For the Windows version, click Uninstall icon under the TextSeek folder of start menu, or you can find TextSeek under "Programs and Features" in the control panel, and then right-click to uninstall.
For the Mac version, find TextSeek under "Applications" in the Finder, right-click to select "Show package contents", enter the Contents/MacOS directory, and run Uninstall_Data to delete all data files (equivalent to resetting TextSeek). Then, drag the TextSeek icon under "Applications" to the "Recycle Bin" to complete the uninstallation.
Settings
Why is my search so slow?
TextSeek uses a full-text search engine, so its speed is not fast to ensure that it hits all the matches. If you want to increase the search speed, you can reduce the search scope or set the "Memory consumption level" higher in the advanced settings window (but you need to have more RAM available).
Why can't we see the full preview content for a long document?
To save space, TextSeek has a maximum text length for each document. If you want to increase the indexed document length, you can increase the "single file index limit" in the advanced settings window.
I want to restore the initial settings, how do I reset TextSeek?
Click the key icon in the upper right corner, click "Advanced Settings", check "Reset in the next boot", and click "OK". After restarting TextSeek, it enters a reset state.
